     About Your Host

Background: Hil Ohrstrom was trained as a Usui Reiki Master by Starr Beauvais of DovenStar Reiki a number of years ago and has also been trained as master in what is termed Tibetan style Reiki. He initially learned Japanese Reiki techniques from Reiki author Frank Arjava Petter during one of Mr. Petter’s US tours and from additional study. He studied sound healing with tuning forks with Dr. Joseph Crane and Robbie Nicholai, RN. Hil lives with his dog Komyo (and many visiting deer, moose, eagles, etc) in a small valley north of Priest River, Idaho where he continues to study Reiki and other forms of alternative medicine. He holds to the belief that people can live their dreams. A dream of his that is in progress is the formation of Silent Water, a healing center that will provide a site for eastern, western, and indigenous practitioners and teachers to come and work with those attracted to the modalities that they practice.

Hil earned a graduate degree concentrated in counseling in 1979. He is a licensed clinical counselor, certified alcohol and drug counselor, and a registered clinical supervisor who has worked in human services for over 30 years, and who has taught on the faculty of three colleges. Hil consults to addiction treatment programs in the areas of counselor supervision, clinical training and grant writing. He became interested in natural and alternative healing through his counseling work and through a brief medical crisis of his own during the early 1980’s.

Info for Reiki Clients/Students: Most work with Reiki and sound is done with individual clients, however there is no limit to distance Reiki services, and Hil is open to traveling to Inland Northwest clients who are unable to travel to the office when scheduling permits. He can also be available to make weekend visits to inland northwest hospitals to provide Reiki services for inpatient clients upon request if the hospitals grant their approval. It works best if clients discuss hospital visits first with their physicians. Please contact Hil directly at the phone number above or email address on the contact page. Potential students, please see the Reiki classes’ link for Reiki training information.

Information for Organizations:   Hil is available to provide introductory talks on Reiki at no charge for local hospice and volunteer groups.
